Principal Engineer, Power Systems

PowerRise is a premier provider of project and construction management services for electric and gas utility clients. The Principal Engineer is responsible for leading complex studies and providing high-level consultation in electric transmission and substation engineering, while also mentoring other engineers and influencing strategic decisions.

Responsibilities

Lead and perform assignments in specialized areas requiring extensive engineering expertise, such as power system studies, protection scheme design, or equipment specification
Serve as the technical lead on a small number of highly complex projects that require specialized knowledge in many areas
Evaluate, develop, and implement solutions for projects that have significant financial and operational impact on our clients
Lead teams in developing complex studies, plans, criteria, and design documents associated with the planning, design, licensing, and operation of T&S facilities
Provide expert consultation and recommendations to clients as a result of studying their systems, processes, or equipment
Participate in creating, updating, and applying internal and industrywide standards and technologies in your specialized area of expertise
Participate in technical and industry societies and committees (e.g., IEEE, CIGRE) to enhance knowledge of new technologies and influence industry standards
Provide detailed technical training, mentorship, and peer review to other engineers within PowerRise and our client organizations
Act as an expert witness or provide expert opinions for internal committees or regulatory proceedings as required

Qualification

Required

Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or a related engineering discipline
10+ years of professional engineering experience with a thorough knowledge and recognized expertise in a unique area of T&S engineering
Proven ability to apply advanced engineering principles to identify and resolve complex, multifaceted issues
Demonstrated ability to lead and perform assignments independently and lead multidiscipline teams
Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical topics to a variety of audiences

Preferred

Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) is strongly preferred
Master of Science degree in Engineering
Prior experience as a technical lead on medium and largescale engineering projects
A working knowledge of advanced analysis software packages (e.g., CYMDIST, PSS/E, Python, PSCAD, MATLAB)
Published technical documents or leadership roles in recognized industry committees
