Sr. Counsel, Consumer Transactions

The role involves advising on transactions related to vehicles, accessories, and financial products, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards while supporting commercial growth.

Responsibilities
Provide legal counsel on motor vehicle sales, motor vehicle optional accessories/products, remarketing, and dealership operations
Advise on retail installment sales, leasing, and online-to-offline consumer sales experiences
Ensure Rivian’s consumer products and processes comply with Reg Z, Reg M, ECOA, FCRA, FTC UDAAP guidelines, OFAC screening, and other applicable laws, regulations, or regulatory guidance
Draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts with sales, marketing, and software partners
Deliver legal and compliance training to customer-facing teams
Collaborate with software engineering and design to ensure compliant customer interfaces and retail touchpoints
Develop scalable policies and maintain legal documentation, knowledge resources, and regulatory toolkits
Partner cross-functionally to identify and mitigate legal, compliance, and reputational risk across the consumer experience

Qualification
Required
JD from an accredited law school and active bar membership
6+ years of relevant legal experience (preferably including in-house)
Demonstrated knowledge of motor vehicle sales, retail finance, and/or commercial contracting
Familiarity with relevant consumer protection laws and regulations
Proven ability to deliver high-impact training and guidance to non-legal stakeholders
Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
Pragmatic, solutions-oriented approach and strong business acumen
Willingness to travel up to 10% as needed
