Software Engineer - F16 Aircraft System Test - Level 4

The role involves developing and designing software for the F-16 aircraft's Operational Flight Program and conducting various tests to ensure system integration and performance.

Responsibilities
Performing intelligence research and compile data to create threat simulation models
Building threat representative scenarios used in testing advanced avionics system development and fielding
Interpret and decompose aircraft and weapons requirements to develop test cases and software programs for traditional and/or automated tests
Develop software applications and software engineering packages to enhance and improve traditional software and hardware System Integration Lab (SIL) testing processes
Coordinate and communicate with software and hardware test team members to plan and execute tests across the spectrum of the software development processes
Document findings and results in accordance established development and configuration management processes
Conduct integration tests of each aircraft subsystem against developmental aircraft Operational Flight Programs (OFP)
Develop test plans and test procedures
Effectively communicate discovered OFP and Integrated Test Stand (ITS) anomalies in Software Watch Item (WIT)/ Defect databases
Assist with troubleshooting and correcting SPARs
Conduct system level tests at each phase of the software development process
Support Interface Control Working Group (ICWG) and User Group meetings. Document findings and results in accordance with established development and configuration management processes
This position may require occasional travel
Qualification
Required
Experience building threat representative scenarios used in testing advanced avionics system development and fielding
Experience with any combination of the following: aircraft electronic / avionics systems, air to air weapons, air to ground weapons, sensors, and/or communications, or Electronic Warfare (EW) integration test operations
Basic knowledge of electromagnetic waves and properties
Technical writing experience
Experience with software and/or hardware Defect and/or Watch Item (WIT) identification, analysis, de-bugging, troubleshooting and resolution
Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Power-point, Access, etc.)
Must be a U.S. citizen
Must possess at minimum a Final Secret Security Clearance
Preferred
Experience building threat simulation models
Electrical Engineering Bachelor's degree or a Master's Degree
Extensive knowledge or experience with U.S. military aviation operations
Excellent systems troubleshooting skills and experience
Knowledge of F-16 aircraft avionics systems including Pilot Vehicle Interfaces (PVI), internal electronic bus structure, and subsystem integration operations
Working knowledge of F-16 specific aircraft sub-systems, weapon systems and how they integrate with on-board computer processors
Ability to effectively interface with civilian government, DoD, and industry representatives
Exceptional interpersonal skills and must be able to work well in a team environment
