Responsibilities

Independently performs complex professional accounting duties via the Uniform Codes Manual (UCM), State Administrative Manual (SAM), Government Code, Financial Informational System for California (FISCal) functionality, statewide month-end and year-end closing requirements, and accounting processes across multiple funds
Analyzes and resolves complex accounting discrepancies; coordinates corrections with internal units and control agencies; prepares and reviews financial reports; ensures compliance with statewide accounting policies and the Prompt Payment Act; supports year-end close activities; and provides technical guidance to program and accounting staff

Required

Independently performs complex professional accounting duties via the Uniform Codes Manual (UCM), State Administrative Manual (SAM), Government Code, Financial Informational System for California (FISCal) functionality, statewide month-end and year-end closing requirements, and accounting processes across multiple funds
Serves as a subject-matter expert for reconciliation, expenditure tracking, encumbrance management, and FISCal transactional accuracy
Analyzes and resolves complex accounting discrepancies
Coordinates corrections with internal units and control agencies
Prepares and reviews financial reports
Ensures compliance with statewide accounting policies and the Prompt Payment Act
Supports year-end close activities
Provides technical guidance to program and accounting staff
Requires independence, analytical judgment, and responsibility for tasks that impact the entire departmental accounting operation
