The State of Connecticut is seeking an Office Assistant for Platt Technical High School in Milford, CT. The role involves performing a full range of general clerical functions, including typing, composing correspondence, greeting visitors, and maintaining office supplies.

Responsibilities
Typing a variety of materials in relation to other duties or as assigned
Composing routine correspondence
Greeting students, parents and visitors
Answering and directing calls to other offices, such as the Guidance department
Maintain calendars of due dates and initiates recurring work or special clerical projects accordingly
Maintain inventory and ordering supplies
Qualification
Required
Two (2) years of general clerical work experience
Knowledge of office systems and procedures including proper telephone usage and filing
Skills: interpersonal skills; oral and written communication skills; performing arithmetical computations
Ability to perform a full range of clerical tasks
Ability to operate office equipment which includes computers, tablets, and other electronic equipment
Ability to operate office suite software
Ability to schedule and prioritize workflow
Ability to read and interpret complex instructions
Preferred
Experience working in an educational setting
Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, including managing data, tracking work and scheduling meetings
Experience in Customer Service, Reception, or a similar role requiring regular interpersonal communication with multiple stakeholders
Experience with multi-tasking while maintaining organization and attention to detail
Experience composing and editing letters and reports, reviewing correspondence for accuracy and completeness
