Warehouse Operations Manager

Responsibilities
Meet production deadlines; maintain high quality and service levels while managing profitable growth; develop policies and practices to ensure continuous improvement in all areas and to provide immediate leadership for department managers, supervisors and crew
Develops and directs programs to ensure the efficient and cost-effective operation and utilization of company facilities, equipment and asset
Develops and implements accurate operating budgets for all operations departments in coordination with the Chief Operating Officer
Meets operations financial objectives by forecasting requirements; preparing an annual budget; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions
Provides leadership in the financial performance of operation
Achieves operational objectives by contributing information and recommendations to strategic plans and reviews; preparing and completing action plans; implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards; resolving problems; completing audits; identifying trends
Develops operations systems by determining product handling and storage requirements; developing, implementing, enforcing, and evaluating policies and procedures; developing processes for receiving product; equipment utilization and storage, inventory management, shipping, and warehouse organization
Develops facility design by planning layout, product flow, and product handling systems; evaluating and recommending new equipment
Develops operations system improvements by analyzing process workflow, manning and space requirements, and equipment layout and implements changes
Develops and implements operational workflow that clearly defines the roles and responsibilities of its management, supervisory and crew labor
Develops, implements, and improves standard operating procedures (SOPS) to ensure the execution of operational procedures for activities such as verification of incoming and outgoing shipments, handling and disposition of materials and inventory accuracy, and driving active safety programs
Candidate must able to develop work plans to ensure appropriate staffing (allocation of labor force) levels while managing overtime in a way that takes into consideration P&L, work-life balance, and the need to always meet the expectations of the customer
Organizes, holds, and attends daily Operations, Production, Sales, and internal department meetings – essentially daily shift start meeting including the use of the communication board for special assignments, etc
Develops, implements, and directs programs to ensure the safety of all personnel, equipment and property. Ensure a culture of safety throughout the organization by following safety policies and procedures – monitor safety, physical security and operational metrics on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis
Accomplishes Operations human resources objectives by recruiting, selecting, orienting, training, assigning, scheduling, coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, appraising, and reviewing job contributions; planning and reviewing compensation actions; enforcing policies and procedures
Plans long-range labor needs based on customer sales forecasts and internal projects
Identifies, assesses and pursues continuous improvement opportunities and makes recommendations to senior management on programs that improve operational efficiency
Inventory control/management – ensures current and accurate inventory control for each area in the warehouse; directs the inventory lead and contributes to the development, implementation and direction of programs to ensure inventory and asset security
Works with Production, Maintenance, and Fabrication department managers to develop smooth flow of finished goods into the warehouse for both shipping and storage – identifies issues and provides suggested improvements
Oversees a staff of managers, supervisors, and labor crew in a 24/7 environment, able to work a flexible schedule and ability to be on call at various times. Must be able to work nights, weekends, and holidays
Recommends capital expenditures to ensure efficient ongoing operations
Ensures 100% compliance with all government regulations and company policies
Reports operational and IT issues
Manages staff, sets expectations and objectives for individuals to ensure accountability and an environment open for new ideas and creative improvement process
Qualification
Required
3 -5 years of management experience, managing productivity and labor planning in a high volume, fast-paced, distribution environment
Strong operational background with a track record of continuous improvement
Excellent leadership skills, having the ability to direct a group and to engage together in the process of developing, sharing, and moving towards the company's strategic vision
Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship; demonstrating a commitment to teamwork
Must be hardworking and self-motivated
Strong personal character and integrity
Ability to multi-task and interface at all levels of management
Ability to work in a fast-paced dynamic environment
Preferred
Bachelor's degree in business discipline or logistics preferred
