Yale New Haven Health is committed to integrity and patient-centered care, and they are seeking a Milieu Counselor to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary treatment team. The role involves assisting nursing staff in maintaining a therapeutic environment and providing individualized patient care under the direction of a Registered Nurse.

Responsibilities

Assists the nursing staff in maintaining a therapeutic milieu/environment to ensure the care and treatment of patients

Acts as a cofacilitator in select unit based therapeutic groups as identified by Nurse Manager

Under the direction of the Registered Nurse, provides individualized patient care to insure the safety and dignity of the patient

Collaborates with members of multidisciplinary team offering suggestions and recommendations on addressing patient/family needs

Participates in unit activities that promote a cohesive staff group

Participates in interdisciplinary staff meetings and if unable to attend, reads and signs minutes

Required

Associates degree required

Minimum one (1) year prior experience in Psychology and or related field, working with specialized populations such as emotionally disturbed adults, adolescents and or children and families

Ability to work collaboratively in an interdisciplinary team to communicate and effectively deal with complex effectively charged situations and possess group facilitation and crisis management skills

Preferred

Bachelor degree preferred
