Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field; or equivalent professional experience
Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in Information Technology operations
Minimum 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role
Operational Oversight: Ability to manage daily SOC operations, ensuring consistent coverage, workload balance, and SLA adherence
Mentorship and Development: Experienced in coaching junior employees at American Water to improve analytical capabilities and procedural discipline
Escalation Management: Skilled in triaging and prioritizing incidents and making decisions under pressure
Documentation upkeep
Performance Management: Establishing and tracking performance metrics (KPIs/SLAs) for SOC effectiveness
Strong knowledge of digital technologies and applicability for the water and wastewater industries
In-depth knowledge of SOC operations, incident response, and threat intelligence
Leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
Strong expertise with enterprise-class security tools and platforms (SIEM, SOAR, EDR, IAM, vulnerability management)
Preferred
Appropriate technical certification in specialty area preferred
Experience in utilities, critical infrastructure, or other highly regulated industries strongly preferred
