Heart Monitoring Unit Internship

They are seeking motivated individuals for a paid internship in diagnostic cardiology, providing hands-on experience in EKGs and cardiac monitoring while preparing for a Non-Invasive Cardiology Technologist role.

Responsibilities
Perform inpatient and outpatient EKGs (attaching electrodes, operating EKG machines)
Apply, troubleshoot, and educate patients on Holter monitors and other cardiac devices
Work in clinical settings that may include exposure to body fluids, open wounds, or patients in acute distress
Begin learning telemetry interpretation and cardiac rhythm recognition
Complete structured educational materials and self-study supported by mentorship
Balance clinical duties with study time; progress is measured through knowledge-based tests
Observe cardiac rhythms, document changes, and escalate concerns
Face-to-face patient interaction ~10-20% of the time (performing EKGs, Holter/event monitors, patient education)
Transcribing test results into our Electronic Health Record system
Study between performing EKGs
Qualification
Required
High school education or equivalent required
Ability to work on call required
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required, must be from an American Heart Association (AHA) endorsed program (effective for new hires starting January 1, 2023 or later)
Completion of internal training program within 6 months of hire required
Be prepared to test into and qualify for a Non-Invasive Cardiac Tech Role within 6 months of hire required
Preferred
Two years' experience in EKG preferred
Medical experience preferred
College courses in physiology, anatomy, and/or related subjects preferred
Associate of Science degree preferred
Graduate of an accredited school of allied health/technology preferred
