DevOps Systems Engineer

Hunt Energy Network (HEN) is seeking a DevOps / Network Systems Engineer to support cloud, network, and operational technology environments across their growing energy storage footprint. This role involves managing AWS cloud engineering, DevOps automation, and enterprise networking to ensure secure infrastructure and compliance with NERC standards.

Responsibilities

Manage access, security, and configuration standards across AWS environments
Build and maintain Infrastructure-as-Code and automated CI/CD pipelines
Harden and monitor cloud-native workloads and ensure reliable OT data flow into cloud systems
Automate provisioning, patching, and compliance checks across cloud and edge environments
Support configuration consistency and regulatory compliance, including NERC-CIP requirements
Architect, deploy, and manage Palo Alto Next-Generation Firewalls (NGFWs) and Panorama for centralized policy and threat visibility
Design and enforce network segmentation strategies using firewall zones, VLANs, and micro-segmentation aligned with the Purdue Enterprise Reference Architecture (PERA)
Manage Cisco Viptela SD-WAN and AWS CloudWAN to ensure secure, resilient connectivity across cloud workloads, data centers, and field assets
Collaborate with enterprise network engineering teams to optimize connectivity, traffic flows, and anomaly detection
Design, maintain, and secure OT network, edge, and cloud-connected architectures
Implement and enforce cybersecurity standards, controls, and hardened configurations across systems
Manage lifecycle updates for network, OT, and cloud infrastructure while maintaining accurate inventories and documentation
Support operational cybersecurity through access controls, logging, patching, and secure remote connectivity
Participate in incident response and develop dashboards, alerts, and runbooks to strengthen operational resilience
Serve as a key interface between DevOps, NOC, Cybersecurity, OT Engineering, and IT teams to ensure alignment and visibility across environments
Document architectures, network diagrams, operational runbooks, and deployment patterns
Provide knowledge transfer and internal training as new cloud, network, or automation capabilities are introduced
Participate in change management processes and communicate technical changes to relevant stakeholders

Required

Strong foundation in network engineering, including routing, switching, segmentation, VPNs, SD-WAN, and firewall architectures (Palo Alto preferred)
Hands-on experience with AWS cloud environments, including IAM, VPC design, serverless services, data services, and cloud-to-OT integrations
Proficiency in Infrastructure-as-Code (CloudFormation, CDK, SAM, or Terraform) and automation scripting (Python, Bash, or PowerShell)
Solid understanding of security frameworks and best practices such as least privilege, zero trust, encryption, and secure secrets management
Ability to troubleshoot across network, cloud, and OS layers using logs, telemetry, and observability tools
Experience with highly segmented networks aligned to industrial or OT architectures (e.g., PERA)
Strong communication, documentation, and cross-team collaboration skills
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related technical field; or equivalent professional experience
5+ years in DevOps, cloud engineering, network engineering, or systems administration roles
Experience designing, deploying, and securing AWS workloads in multi-account environments
Hands-on background with firewalls, segmentation, SD-WAN/cloud WAN technologies, and security-critical network operations
Practical experience with CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure-as-Code for automated deployments and configuration governance
Exposure to cybersecurity controls such as patching, access management, logging, and system hardening
Proven ability to collaborate effectively across security, networking, operations, and engineering teams

Preferred

Experience supporting OT, ICS, or industrial network environments strongly preferred
