Responsibilities
Execute audit engagements with appropriate level of professional skepticism to validate effectiveness of internal controls in mostly complex areas evaluated
Continuously evaluates the efficiency and effectiveness of audit engagements and proposes and offers suggestions for improvements, as appropriate
Identify, document, and evaluate risks associated with the organization’s control environment and assists in the development and monitoring of the risk and control environment
Ensure compliance with professional standards, regulatory requirements, and with organizational policies and procedures
Work independently, as well as, in teams; perform effective self and peer reviews of testing performed, surfaces issues in a timely manner
Work collaboratively with key stakeholders across the organization, including external auditors
Execute necessary tasks to perform engagement steps in accordance with the audit plan for financial, operational, and compliance engagements
Participate in the creation of oral and written reports and presentations
Act in accordance with Port Houston core values (respect, excellence, accountability, diligence, and you.)
Perform other duties as required
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, Economics, Finance, or related major from a public or accredited private academic institution required
6+ years of related experience in a similar role required
Working knowledge in Microsoft Office products including Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint
Knowledge of data analytic tools
Experience with ERP systems
Strong experience with documenting and analyzing business and operational processes
Experience in root cause analysis
Knowledge of management information systems terminology, concepts, and practices
Knowledge of auditing and accounting principles
Knowledge of industry program policies, procedures, regulations, and laws
Attention to detail and effective organizational skills
Sound judgement, problem-solving and analytical skills
Effective communication and interpersonal skills with all levels of employees, management, and customers
Tactical critical thinking skills
Strategic, operational, technical, and financial skills
Ability to make clear and convincing presentations
Ability to elicit cooperation from all levels of leadership and departments
Preferred
CPA or CIA preferred
