Responsibilities

During periods of packaging downtime, produce pallets of product without labels, properly stacked for placement in designated Britestack storage areas
Read and accurately interpret scheduled and other production documents. Verify that Britestacker is set up for can size and pattern. Verify schedule with Kister and Krones operators and supervisor
Records down time and other production-related data. Prevents the hydroflex discharge from creating chain stoppages (which prevents overcooking of product and filler downtime). Fill out HOLD tags as required
Communicate with the Krones operator during code changes. Empty Britestacker of cans on change over. Notify tow motor drivers of change over. Feed product in for labeling as production flow allows
Ensure pallets are of acceptable quality. No broken boards, voids, protruding nails or nailheads, etc. Ensure that nails are not sticking up on the pallet
Notify supervisor and/or maintenance if cans are being dented in any way while britestacking. Notify the packaging and maintenance supervisor of any mechanical problems or potential problems
Conduct general cleaning of the area, housekeeping and end of week sanitation
Must be able to coordinate running one britestacker loading pallets while unloading with the other
Able to operate a forklift
Participates as a member of the Team. Participates in ongoing development, communication and implementation of team concepts, programs and policies; coordinates work to ensure best practices with all team members. Attends appropriate team meetings. As a member of the Team, fosters strong cohesiveness regarding all major issues; e.g., direction, annual plan, budget, policy changes, etc. Accepts responsibility to quickly identify any areas that lack cohesiveness, bringing them to the attention of the team leader and working with the team in a supportive manner to resolve issues and actively look for ways, and reinforces actions needed, to achieve synergy possible within the larger organization
Simmons Operating systems principles and objectives: Is familiar with Simmons’ established operating systems (e.g. quality, security, office environment, company policies); understands the responsibility to maintain familiarity with the systems and this position’s role in support of these systems - including a consideration of the impact of individual actions on the systems and the responsibility to communicate concerns and improvement ideas
Performs other duties as necessary in support of business objectives: This position description is intended to guide the activities of the Britestacker and is not intended to limit the thinking and creativity of the person to the work of this function nor is it intended that this describe all the work that may be required of the person in this position
Physical Activities: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand and walk. Physically move empty pallets weighing up to 50 lbs in and out of the equipment
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Steel toed shoes, Ear Plugs, Hair Net, Safety glasses
Travel: N/A
Technical Experience: Machine Operation preferred. May be required to obtain and maintain company issued forklift license
Industry Experience: Experienced within a manufacturing/process environment with knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices
