Child Life Gaming Specialist (per diem)
Stony Brook Medicine is a healthcare provider dedicated to delivering high-quality services to children and families. They are seeking a Recreational Therapy Specialist/Child Life Gaming Specialist to assist children in developing coping skills through gaming and collaborate with healthcare teams to implement effective digital programming.
Responsibilities
Assist children in the development of coping skills through game play and recreation
Collaborate with child life staff in development and implementation of new and effective digital programming
Work in conjunction with health care team members to identify current patient needs and develop care plan goals for gaming and tablet use
Use gaming tools and tablets to help children cope
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Child Life, Child Development, or gaming technology related field
At least 1 year of experience working with gaming and technology in a pediatric setting
Ability to work flexible schedules including evening, weekends, and holidays
Preferred
Minimum three years employment in a gaming or technology focused position serving children
Master's degree in Child Life, Child Development, Creative Arts Therapy or related field
Dual Certified Child Life (CCLS) and Creative Arts Therapy (LCAT)
