Recreation Specialist (15205, Grade 18)

They are seeking a Recreation Specialist for their Southern Recreation and Leisure Services Division to lead recreational programming and outreach, support regional special events, and coordinate activities for the community.

Responsibilities

Assist Area Specialist and Senior Recreation Specialist in planning and executing large-scale community events, festivals, and special programs
Assist in developing and implementing programs, activities, and special events within two regional parks
Help coordinate senior-focused recreational programs, workshops, trips, and special events
Assist with the coordination of Concerts and Movies in the Park series
Create promotional content and support the marketing of programs and facilities through community outreach and engagement initiatives
Work collaboratively with external and internal partners
Provide excellent internal and external customer service
Participate in departmental, divisional, or other committees as assigned
Assist with recruiting, selecting and training intermittent and volunteer staff for Divisional recreation programs. Schedules, and assigns work and equipment. Evaluates and supervises intermittent staff/volunteers
Prepares purchase requisitions, purchase card requests, check requests and assists in budget tracking, monitoring, and control
Maintain organized digital files for contracts, invoices, purchase requisitions, and purchase card receipts
Manage event inventory and restock as needed
Prepare event materials, including signage, décor, and packets
Compile feedback from staff or participants to help evaluate and improve programs
Assist with event set-up and breakdown, including light lifting and equipment staging
Coordinate booking, transport, setup, staging, and breakdown of décor and furnishings for styled outdoor picnic experiences
Other duties as assigned

Required

Bachelor's Degree in Parks and Recreation, Recreation Management, Sports Management, Leisure Studies, Physical Education or any related field
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted, which together total four (4) years
Valid driver's license in accordance with both State and Commission rules and regulations. Driver's licenses must be unencumbered by restrictions, revocations, suspensions, or points that could limit the employee's ability to drive Commission vehicles or perform driving duties required of the position
