Responsibilities

Acknowledge, assist and appreciate our customers
Promote Corporate Brands to customers
Communicate Meat/Seafood department information to associates
Promote teamwork
Adhere to all local, state and federal laws, and company guidelines
Create an environment that enables customers to feel welcome and appreciated
Gain and maintain knowledge of products sold within the Meat/Seafood department
Respond to customer’s questions
Cut meats to customers’ requests using proper cutting equipment
Offer product samples to help customers discover new items
Inform customers of meat specials
Provide customers with fresh/frozen products that they have ordered and the correct portion to prevent shrink
Prepare foods according to the food temperature logs and follow cooking instructions
Execute sales promotions
Educate Meat/Seafood department associates about current, upcoming and special in-store promotions
Implement the period promotional plan
Monitor and control expenses for the Meat/Seafood department
Maintain an awareness of inventory/stocking conditions
Schedule daily, weekly and monthly price changes by updating shelf tags and signs
Familiarity and compliance with all country of origin labeling and regulations
Plan, organize and supervise the inventory process
Train Meat/Seafood department associates on inventory/stocking
Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines
Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers and maintain temperature logs
Reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures and identify unsafe conditions
Practice preventive maintenance by properly inspecting equipment and notify appropriate department or store manager of any items in need of repair
Notify management of customer or employee accidents
Report all safety risks or issues and illegal activity to management
Must be able to perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation

Required

Effective communication skills/ability to handle stressful situations
Obtain current food handlers permit once employed
Possess adequate knife handling skills and knife speed

Preferred

High school education
Retail Experience
