Responsibilities
Perform infrastructure project assignments. Plan, research, evaluate and design infrastructure solutions
Provide a high level of technical support and analysis, operation, administration, and troubleshooting activities. Adhere to AEP’s approval processes as part of change management, incident management and trouble response scenarios
Prepare cost estimates, justifications, application requirements, alternative solutions, and technical recommendations
Prepare technical documentation including procedures, manuals, and reports
Review and adhere to budgeting and approval processes while assisting with annual and project planning
May provide training and mentoring, as well as work direction, to others on the team
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or related technical field is required
5 years of relevant work experience is required. An equivalent combination of education and related experience may be considered
Adhere to policies, procedures, standards, codes and regulations relevant to assignments
Demonstrate thorough knowledge of AEP infrastructure, environment, components, and facilities to enable more efficient and comprehensive responses to projects and problems
Exhibit and apply proficiency in analysis, design, problem solving, troubleshooting, resolution, communication, and customer service skills
Strong understanding of routing (OSPF, BGP) and switching
Proficiency with major vendor equipment (Cisco, Arista, etc)
Knowledge of firewalls, VPNs, PKI, and cybersecurity best practices
Excellent problem-solving skills for diagnosing and resolving complex issues
Preferred
Firewall configuration, installation and maintenance
Authentication, Authorization and Accounting (AAA) to provide authentication of devices and users
Solid foundation of routers and switches (Cisco, Arista, etc)
Background in supporting users in larger settings
Ability to work independently and manage tasks effectively
Good communication skills, able to interact with different customers, including leadership
Experience working with a team in a larger environment
