CAD Plumbing Designer

IMCOR - Interstate Mechanical, LLC is a company focused on mechanical design and engineering. Responsibilities

Develop and modify detailed plumbing and mechanical piping system drawings using AutoCAD Fabrication MEP 2023/2024, Revit 2023/2024, and Navisworks 2023/2024 for coordination and installation
Design and coordinate mechanical piping systems including chilled water lines, hot water (heating) lines, chiller connections, and equipment layouts
Confirm DX (Direct Expansion) line sizes and lengths with vendors to ensure proper equipment performance and compliance with manufacturer specifications
Produce isometric spool drawings for fabrication and installation of mechanical piping
Utilize Bluebeam Review and Procore for document management, markup, and project coordination
Produce valve and fixture schedules, equipment layouts, material requisitions, and specification checklists for project execution
Review job specifications, contract plans, scopes of work, and submittals to ensure compliance with contractual requirements
Incorporate company drafting standards and best practices into design deliverables
Create floor sleeve and wall penetration coordination drawings with dimensions and elevations
Conduct site visits (minimum twice per month) to enhance knowledge of plumbing and piping installation methods and identify cost-saving opportunities
Generate RFIs with clear descriptions of conflicts and suggested resolutions for project managers
Participate in BIM coordination meetings and collaborate with other trades to resolve conflicts
Conduct quality control checks on drawings to ensure compliance with contract documents and optimize system routing for efficiency
Work closely with project managers, engineers, and field teams to develop and refine plumbing and mechanical designs
Assist in preparing field turnover packages, CAD shop drawings, fixture schedules, access panel verifications, and other project documentation
Maintain strong professional relationships with general contractors, engineers, clients, vendors, and field teams
Attend internal and external meetings related to project coordination, including estimating turnover and field coordination meetings

Required

Minimum 2+ years' experience in CAD/Revit drafting, preferably in plumbing or MEP design
Strong proficiency in AutoCAD Fabrication MEP, Revit, and Navisworks
Solid understanding of plumbing systems, blueprints, and contract documents
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work independently and meet deadlines with minimal supervision
Proactive problem-solving mindset with a team-oriented approach
Ability to identify design conflicts and propose effective resolutions
Experience working in a BIM environment and collaborating with multiple trades

Preferred

Hands-on experience in plumbing systems is a plus
