Responsibilities
Operates a variety of power construction and maintenance equipment used in the water and sewer division
Cuts, fits, lays, repairs, taps, cleans, and flushes water mains, pipe, valves, and fittings on the repair of mains and services and installation of services, fire hydrants, water pump and lift stations; assists in shutting off broken sections of water mains
Repairs and maintains City sewer lines and landscapes
Ensures the proper maintenance of equipment and tools by cleaning and checking equipment and tools after use
Drives trucks of various sizes and weights in the loading, hauling, and unloading of various equipment, gravel, and sand
Performs routine inspection and preventive maintenance on assigned equipment and refers defects or needed repairs to supervisor/superintendent; cleans equipment
Operates light and medium-sized construction and power equipment, such as jackhammers, tampers, drills, saws, and hydraulic equipment
Performs all duties in conformance to appropriate safety and security standards
Performs required in the field supervision involved in construction and maintenance projects as a crew leader, including pavement cutting, ditch digging, manhole and line cleaning, main and pipe repair, laying, and backfilling
Performs other related duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
Possession of a valid Driver's License issued by the State of Georgia
Pre-Employment screening is required: criminal background check and drug testing
Preferred
Some experience in heavy construction is preferred
Water and Sewer experience preferred
Experience in communicating with diverse communities, and in establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships
Proficiency in MS Office Suite, as well as knowledge and understanding of the organizational structure, workflow, and operating procedures
