Part-Time English Language Instructor, English Language Institute (ELI)

Responsibilities

Utilize a variety of innovative teaching and learning strategies to assist students in achieving learning outcomes. Outcome assessments may include: holding in-person and virtual office hours. Teaching strategies include but not limited to group work, project-based learning. listening tests, notetaking, individual and group presentations, etc
Cultivate a positive and supportive learning environment within the classroom setting
Participate and lead in the use of multiple modalities in the classroom
Possess strong commitment to student success
Support, advise and mentor students in a meaningful constructive manner
Participate in the life and culture of the department, division, and college as well as professional development activities
Maintain effective communication with a diverse faculty, staff, and student populations including neurodiverse learners

Qualification

TESOLESL teaching experienceDiverse teaching methodsSecond language acquisitionUse of technology in teachingForeign languageEffective communication

Required

Master's Degree in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) or related field. OR Bachelor's Degree, prior ESL teaching experience, and currently enrolled in a Master's in TESOL program
Demonstrated ability to connect and build relationships with diverse students and colleagues
Demonstrated ability to teach in a multi-cultural, multi-ability classroom and advocate for diverse learners
Effective communication skills

Preferred

Experience teaching in an intensive academic ESL program (e.g. IELP, IEP, AEP)
Experience working with students with widely ranging skills levels, nationalities, and backgrounds
Demonstrated ability to teach a variety of intensive ESL course content using diverse methods and materials
Current knowledge of second language acquisition and ESL methodologies
Experience teaching emerging international student populations within the current demographic shifts
Knowledge of a foreign language
Commitment to personal and professional development
Use of technology and EdTech in teaching
