NEOGOV is part of the Manatee County Government, seeking a Recreation Coordinator I to assist with operations and activities of assigned recreation program areas. The role involves teaching patrons about fitness equipment, maintaining facilities, providing customer service, and participating in community outreach efforts.

Responsibilities

Teaches patrons to safely use and operate weight machines, including modifications and alternative ways to exercise

Cleans and maintains fitness equipment

If qualified to do so, may complete personal training sessions on various levels of fitness and/or instruct group exercise classes

Other duties as assigned by supervisor

Assists with diversified recreation programs and services for all ages in accordance with community needs

Responds to questions and concerns from patrons

Identifies issues and resolves problems or refers to supervisor as appropriate

Participates in community outreach efforts to promote recreation programs and stimulate interest

Provides excellent customer service at all times

Strictly adheres to safety procedures to protect self, co-workers, volunteers, and the general public

Maintains order and safety in crowded and noisy environments

Assists with daily, monthly, and annual maintenance of facilities

Assists management with reporting and data analysis

Attends job-specific training classes as assigned by supervisor

Required

High school graduate or equivalent

One (1) or more years of work experience in recreation or a field related to area of assignment, to include customer service and cash handling experience

Community CPR and First Aid certifications required or must be obtained within 30 days of hire

If assigned to a role that will supervise children, a Level 2 Background check is required within 30 days of hire

If assigned to the fitness program, personal training certification required within six (6) months of hire

A comparable combination of education, training, and work experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position, may be substituted for the minimum qualifications
