Park Supervisor 2 (NY HELPS)

New York State Parks, Recreation & Historic Preservation is seeking a Park Supervisor 2 to oversee park operations. The role includes supervising staff, coordinating recreational activities, and ensuring maintenance of park facilities.

Government Administration

Responsibilities

Serve as second-in-command of the park, overseeing both maintenance and the office
Supervise, train, and evaluate permanent and seasonal staff
Ensure proper check-in and assistance for camping patrons
Plan and implement minor construction and preventative maintenance projects
Instruct staff in equipment use, work techniques, and safety requirements
Review and prioritize maintenance requests
Respond to patron and employee complaints
Perform administrative tasks including requisitions, inventory, and reports
Coordinate recreational activities, special events, and facility use
Operate and maintain vehicles and power equipment including trucks, chainsaws, bobcats, jackhammers, and tractors
Perform manual labor including lifting, bending, and climbing

Required

Four years of experience in the construction, operation, or maintenance of a park, recreational facility, or campus; one year of this experience must be at a supervisory level
An associate's or higher level degree or 60 college semester credit hours AND two years as described in No. 1 above; one year of this experience must be at a supervisory level
Your degree must have been awarded by a college or university accredited by a regional, national, or specialized agency recognized as an accrediting agency by the U.S. Department of Education/U.S. Secretary of Education
Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license that allows the candidate to legally operate a motor vehicle in New York State as a term and condition of employment
Must be willing to work holiday, weekend, and evening shifts as required
Must have the ability to lift up to 50 pounds
Position may require working in inclement weather
