Responsibilities

Coordinates and directs activities of the Geotechnical Data Section, Analytical and Risk Section, Inspection and Dam Safety, Levee Safety Section, and Geology and Lab Section
Serves as expert soils consultant and advisor to the District Engineer, Chief of Engineering & Construction Division, Chief, Design Branch, Chief Operations Division, other technical elements of the district, other governmental agencies, outside agencies, and private interests on soils design matters, construction problems, soils design criteria and standards, and value engineering in soils design
Responsible for the instruction and training of subordinates in the safe and efficient performance of their duties and for studying the operations under this supervision with a view to correcting or reporting for correction, any unsafe condition or unsafe work practice that might cause injury to employee, or other persons, or property damage

Required

Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) from an accredited educational institution authorized to grant baccalaureate degrees in Engineering
Combination of education and experience - college-level education, training, and/or technical experience that furnished (1) a thorough knowledge of the physical and mathematical sciences underlying engineering, and (2) a good understanding, both theoretical and practical, of the engineering sciences and techniques and their applications to one of the branches of engineering
Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) from an accredited educational institution authorized to grant baccalaureate degrees in Geology, plus 20 additional semester hours in any combination of mathematics, physics, chemistry, biological science, structural, chemical, civil, mining or petroleum engineering, computer science, planetary geology, comparative planetology, geophysics, meteorology, hydrology, oceanography, physical geography, marine geology, and cartography
Combination of education and experience - course work as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education
At least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level that demonstrates advanced technical leadership
Management, supervision, coordination, and direction of engineering or geology products
Experience advising on unique technical issues with respect to geotechnical engineering or geology
Review the work of subordinate employees for quality and compliance

Proof of U.S. Citizenship
Registered professional in accordance with the requirement in ER 690-1-958
