Start in 2026 SummerJohnson, Mirmiran & Thompson is a dynamic, 100% employee-owned consulting firm providing a full range of multidisciplinary engineering and related services. They are seeking a Structural Intern for the summer of 2026 to assist the Transportation Structural team with various engineering tasks and gain practical experience in civil engineering.
Civil Engineering
Responsibilities
Perform general civil/structural engineering tasks to support various project managers, as required
Assist in the production of engineering drawings using MicroStation
Develop quantity take-offs
Review shop drawings and submittals
Assist in the field performing bridge and structure inspections
Write and review bridge inspection reports
Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Ability to handle multiple projects and manage time
Positive attitude and willingness to work cooperatively with others
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office software including WORD and EXCEL
Students currently pursuing a B.S. degree in civil engineering at a 4-year ABET-accredited university or a master's program in Civil Engineering
Students should have completed or planned to be enrolled in courses such as structural analysis, steel or concrete design, geotechnical engineering, etc
Preferred
Experience using MicroStation
Experience using structural analysis and design software and Mathcad
3D Structural Modeling
Experience with AASHTO LRFD bridge design
EIT certification, or the ability to quickly obtain certification
