Senior Thermodynamic Engineer
RX USA LLC is seeking a Senior Thermodynamic Engineer to serve as the technical authority for thermodynamic design in steam turbine systems. The role involves optimizing energy distribution and resolving complex thermal performance issues while collaborating with aerodynamic engineers for cohesive system integration.

Responsibilities
Perform advanced thermodynamic analyses focused on energy distribution, flow path shaping, and performance optimization within steam turbines
Investigate and resolve flow-related thermal inefficiencies and instabilities in turbine systems
Balance thermodynamic and mechanical design objectives to meet performance and durability requirements
Collaborate cross-functionally with aerodynamic, acoustic, and structural engineers to ensure integrated system design
Contribute to the development and validation of loss models for primary, secondary, and tertiary loss mechanisms
Extensive background in the design and performance optimization of thermodynamic systems for turbines or turbomachinery
Proficient in energy staging and flow path layout for both steam and gas turbines
Skilled in applying 0D (lumped parameter), 1D (meanline), and 2D (throughflow) thermodynamic analysis techniques using either commercial software or internally developed tools
Familiarity with steam as a working fluid and associated flow characteristics
Experienced in addressing system-level flow behavior and improving efficiency across turbine stages
Demonstrated ability to integrate thermodynamic performance within multidisciplinary design teams
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in engineering or a closely related technical field
Minimum of 5 years of relevant engineering experience
Eligibility for security clearance
Strong familiarity with thermal systems and their application within turbine environments
Proven ability to lead technical initiatives and guide multidisciplinary teams
Proficient with RANS-based CFD tools in support of thermodynamic evaluation
Exposure to Navy Nuclear or defense-related engineering environments
Capable of applying thermodynamic principles beyond steam flow paths, including rotating machinery systems
Experience with seal and packing design, valve and exhaust hood analysis
Knowledge of thermal-fluid interaction modeling and complementary CFD tools
