Human Resources Support Specialist
Purdue Federal Credit Union is seeking a Human Resources Support Specialist to enhance the employee experience and ensure compliance across HR operations. The role involves recruitment, onboarding, benefits coordination, compliance, and employee engagement, contributing to effective HR solutions aligned with the organization's mission and values.

Responsibilities
Assist the Recruiter with posting job openings on internal and external platforms in alignment with established guidelines
Provide administrative support for candidate screening, interview scheduling, and communication to ensure a professional and timely candidate experience
Support the Recruiter in coordinating background, credit, and bondability checks and administering required assessments
Prepare and issue standard correspondence related to candidate selection, interview logistics, and regulatory compliance, as directed by the Recruiter
Contribute to process improvements in recruitment workflows and assist with ensuring compliance with employment laws and organizational standards
Coordinate logistical aspects of the new-hire onboarding process to promote accuracy, consistency, and a welcoming employee experience
Support the facilitation of orientations and initial training sessions in collaboration with Talent Development
Complete and maintain employment eligibility documentation (Form I-9, E-Verify) and ensure proper record retention in accordance with federal requirements
Track onboarding metrics and provide recommendations to the Recruiter to improve efficiency and impact
Maintain accurate and confidential employee data within the HRIS and physical personnel files, ensuring compliance with record retention standards
Collaborate with the Payroll team to ensure employee data changes, timesheet reviews, and leave tracking are accurate and timely
Support benefit enrollments, qualifying life events, and open-enrollment processes
Respond to employee inquiries regarding benefits and leave in a timely and professional manner
Coordinate documentation for leave of absence requests and monitor return-to-work timelines
Conduct periodic audits of employee records and HR programs to verify accuracy and adherence to federal, state, and local regulations
Prepare reports and documentation for audits, compliance reviews, and leadership requests
Maintain employee handbooks, policies, and communication materials to ensure they remain current and accessible
Research HR best practices and assist in developing or enhancing procedures, forms, and reference materials
Coordinate HR meetings, prepare agendas, and track follow-up actions
Process HR-related invoices, employment verifications, and job description updates
Contribute to departmental projects and initiatives that improve HR operations and employee support
Partner with Talent Development to schedule and coordinate company-wide training sessions
Track participation, maintain training records, and support accurate reporting of completion rates
Assist with communications, logistics, and setup for both in-person and virtual training events
Serve as a resource for employee questions, providing guidance in accordance with HR policies and established procedures
Support positive employee relations by assisting with performance management activities, exit interviews, separation documentation, and offboarding processes
Maintain a high level of confidentiality and professionalism in handling sensitive employee information
Coordinate employee engagement and onboarding surveys, assist with data analysis, and share insights to strengthen retention and satisfaction
Plan and coordinate employee events, recognition programs, and culture-building initiatives that reflect Purdue Federal’s mission and values
Take ownership of personal and professional growth by engaging in relevant training, seeking feedback, and building knowledge and skills related to HR operations, compliance, and member service
Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current on industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices related to talent acquisition, workforce technology, and HR compliance including ATS and Onboarding platform upgrades, and functionality
Pursue and maintain relevant professional certifications such as SHRM-CP or PHR
Qualification
Required
Knowledge of HR practices, employment laws, and regulatory requirements
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and HRIS systems
Strong organizational and time-management skills with attention to detail
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact effectively at all levels
Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately
Demonstrated initiative, problem-solving, and service orientation consistent with Purdue Federal's values
Ability to communicate, verbally and in writing, in a professional manner when dealing with employees, members, vendors and company contacts
Ability to follow the core values of honesty, integrity, mutual respect, pride and ownership
Preferred
Experience with Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) and payroll systems
