Assistant Project Manager

Shambaugh & Son L.P. is one of the largest mechanical, electrical, and plumbing contractors in Indiana, specializing in a full range of construction projects. They are seeking an Assistant Project Manager to support the planning, coordination, and execution of fire protection projects, assisting with estimating, documentation, and communication to ensure successful project delivery.

Construction

Responsibilities

Assist in estimating and preparing proposals for fire protection projects
Support the review of blueprints, specifications, and contract documents
Help coordinate project schedules, materials, and subcontractors
Maintain organized project documentation and assist with submittals and change orders
Communicate with vendors and internal departments to ensure timely material procurement
Attend project meetings and take detailed notes for follow-up actions
Assist in tracking project progress, budgets, and timelines
Conduct site visits to support project oversight and ensure compliance with design specifications
Collaborate with design teams to ensure timely preparation of drawings and calculations
Provide administrative support to project managers, including billing coordination and reporting
Foster positive relationships with clients and team members
Other duties as assigned

Required

Strong interest in mechanical systems and construction
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and spreadsheet tools
Excellent organizational and multitasking skills
Strong written and verbal communication abilities
Self-motivated with a desire to grow into a project management role
Valid driver's license and clean driving record
Ability to travel to project sites as needed
Regular and reliable attendance, including the ability to work extended hours and weekends as required

Preferred

Prior experience in construction or fire protection is a plus but not required
Basic knowledge of AutoCAD or willingness to learn
