Electrical Engineer
HukariAscendent is a Women-Owned, Small Business specializing in comprehensive engineering and technical support services associated with commercial nuclear power and other Department of Energy (DOE) nuclear activities. They are seeking a Principal or Senior Principal Electrical Engineer to develop Functional Requirements Documents and Project Requirements Specifications for electrical projects while collaborating with project teams and stakeholders. The role involves leading electrical engineering projects, designing high-voltage systems, and ensuring compliance with relevant codes and standards.
Responsibilities
Develop Functional Requirements Documents (FRDs) and Project Requirements Specifications (PRS) for electrical projects
Support electrical components of building, utility, and equipment projects
Create project/task breakdowns and identify functional, non-functional, and operational requirements
Develop conceptual visualizations and illustrations including layouts, site plans, and perspective views to support requirements documents
Collaborate with integrated project teams (IPTs) and stakeholders to capture input and requirements
Conduct research and utilize existing processes, templates, and previous projects
Perform FRD/PRS reviews, incorporate comments, and resolve issues with IPT members
Finalize documents for approval through established approval processes
Lead strategic planning, organization, and coordination of electrical engineering projects and multi-disciplinary teams across all project phases, including partnerships with equipment manufacturers
Design high-voltage electrical systems, including substations, transmission, and distribution systems up to 138-kV
Develop and modify advanced electrical design drawings (single-line diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams, raceway layouts, lighting plans, and grounding systems)
Conduct comprehensive construction document reviews
Interpret and apply national, state, and local codes and customer requirements throughout the complete project lifecycle, from initial design through startup
Prepare strategic cost estimates and project schedules
Generate, review, and ensure accuracy of complex design calculations, evaluations, and specifications
Proficiency with MicroStation computer-aided drafting software required
Working knowledge of federal (including DOE Orders), state, and local codes and standards applicable to electrical engineering design
Qualification
Required
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (Power concentration)
Minimum 15 years of experience in electrical design, estimating, specification preparation, construction documentation, and field inspection of construction projects
Nevada Professional Engineer License required (or ability to obtain through reciprocity)
