Architectural Designer
URBANO is an architecture and preservation practice based in Houston, Texas, focused on transforming existing and historic buildings. They are seeking an Architectural Designer to develop design concepts and collaborate closely with project teams in a studio environment.
Architecture & Planning
Responsibilities
Develop clear, well-organized layouts and test fits using Revit and Rhino
Support early design studies and spatial exploration
Produce design concepts, diagrams, and presentation materials for client meetings, boards, and proposals
Create renderings and visual studies using Lumion and other rendering tools to clearly communicate design intent
Prepare graphic materials using Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop)
Support multiple active projects with strong organization, follow-through, and time management
Collaborate closely with project leaders and respond thoughtfully to feedback
Maintain consistent graphic, drawing, and file standards
Contribute to projects including adaptive reuse, historic preservation, new construction, master planning, and residential work
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture
3+ years of professional experience in architectural design
Proficiency in Revit with the ability to produce accurate, well-organized layouts
Working knowledge of Rhino, Lumion, and rendering workflows
Strong skills in Adobe Creative Suite for presentations and visual communication
Strong design sensibility and spatial judgment
Excellent attention to detail and organizational discipline
Demonstrated reliability and ability to meet deadlines
Clear communication skills and comfort working in a collaborative, close-knit studio environment
Preferred
Experience with adaptive reuse, historic preservation, or urban projects is a plus
