Materials Characterization Scientist-Entry Level
Collabera is seeking an Associate Scientist II to support materials science activities with a focus on polymer materials characterization in a fast-paced laboratory environment. This role involves hands-on laboratory testing, data analysis, and technical documentation to support medical device development projects.
Responsibilities
Perform materials characterization and assessment using techniques such as differential scanning calorimetry, thermogravimetric analysis, and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy
Support project teams by partnering with scientists to define and execute test plans
Conduct hands-on laboratory analysis and testing in a regulated environment
Analyze experimental data and prepare clear, accurate technical reports
Document experiments and results in an electronic laboratory notebook system in compliance with established guidelines
Apply materials science principles to troubleshoot issues and support project needs
Collaborate effectively within a dynamic team environment while maintaining strong interpersonal communication
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Materials Science, Chemistry, or a closely related scientific discipline
One to three years of experience in a laboratory environment performing materials characterization
Hands-on experience with thermal analysis techniques such as differential scanning calorimetry and thermogravimetric analysis
Ability to operate analytical instrumentation based on academic or industry experience
Experience documenting laboratory work in electronic or paper notebook systems following regulated practices
Strong problem-solving skills with high attention to detail
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Ability to manage multiple assignments and adapt to changing priorities
Preferred
Experience with polymer characterization and understanding of structure and property relationships
Familiarity with spectroscopy or microscopy techniques such as Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy or scanning electron microscopy
Working knowledge of laboratory data analysis or electronic laboratory notebook software systems
