They are seeking an experienced Used Vehicle Inventory Director to lead and optimize all aspects of their pre-owned inventory strategy, focusing on vehicle acquisition, market-based pricing, and inventory performance.

Responsibilities

Lead and execute the dealership’s used vehicle acquisition strategy through auctions, trade appraisals, wholesalers, and direct-buy opportunities

Manage inventory mix, pricing strategy, and turn rate to maximize profitability and market competitiveness

Oversee appraisal processes and ensure disciplined purchasing decisions aligned with recon capacity and retail demand

Monitor market trends, competitor pricing, and supply/demand shifts to guide inventory decisions

Partner closely with sales leadership to ensure inventory supports daily retail objectives

Coordinate with service/reconditioning teams to improve recon cycle time, quality, and cost control

Manage aging inventory strategy, pricing adjustments, and exit strategies for non-performing units

Maintain reporting dashboards and performance metrics (turn, gross, recon spend, acquisition cost, days-to-front-line, ROI)

Build and maintain strong relationships with auction reps, acquisition partners, and wholesale contacts

Provide coaching and leadership to inventory and appraisal team members as needed
