Accounting Manager/Assistant Controller

GL Power, Inc. is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager/Assistant Controller to oversee all accounting operations and ensure accurate financial reporting. This role involves managing a small accounting team and collaborating with senior leadership to support strategic decision-making.

Responsibilities

Oversee all accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and monthly close
Supervise and participate in the monthly accounting close and financial reporting process
Maintain balance sheet reconciliations and supporting analyses
Manage cash flow, banking relationships, reconciliations, and daily banking activity
Coordinate with external CPA firm to ensure a clean and timely year-end financial review and provide required tax support documentation
Oversee sales and use tax administration and filings in multiple states
Coordinate income tax filings with third-party tax service providers
Maintain fixed asset records, including depreciation, disposals, and sales
Support commercial insurance renewals, claims, and vehicle sales/disposals
Coordinate annual physical inventory counts and/or cycle counts and reconcile to the general ledger
Complete year-end LIFO inventory calculations
File annual business license renewals for all states where the company has nexus
Develop and maintain a strong understanding of company systems, legal structure, and business applications

Required

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field
7+ years of general accounting experience
Minimum of 3 years in a leadership or supervisory role
Strong working knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting
ERP experience required (Acumatica experience is a plus)
Experience working with external auditors and tax professionals
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
Clear and effective written and verbal communication
Decisive, detail-oriented, and results-driven
Ability to work effectively in an entrepreneurial, family-owned business environment
High level of integrity, professionalism, and work ethic
