Research Technician I/II - Hughes Lab
The Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation is seeking a motivated Research Technician for the Hughes Lab within the Aging & Metabolism Research Program. The role involves supporting studies on the cellular and molecular mechanisms that regulate skeletal muscle size and function, utilizing various laboratory techniques and models.
Research
Responsibilities
Processing tissue samples, including chromatin immunoprecipitation, RNA/DNA isolation and histology
Aiding in implementing rodent experiments tissue collection
Participating in lab meetings and departmental discussions
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's Degree in one of the biological sciences, physics, chemistry, or related area, or equivalent years of relevant lab experience
Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence and protocols/procedures
Ability to write routine reports, correspondence and meet deadlines
Ability and willingness to handle laboratory mice and rats, including breeding, maintenance, and procedures as needed
Team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Highly organized and meticulous to ensure accuracy of data collection and recording
Willingness to learn new techniques and initiative to solve problems
Preferred
Candidates with a strong background in Molecular Biology are strongly encouraged to apply
Expertise in any of the following areas is highly valued: Molecular Biology (Genotyping, RNA work, RT-qPCR, DNA-Protein Interaction techniques)
Histology (Blocking, Sectioning and Microscope Imaging)
