Business Development Manager

The role involves engaging key decision-makers, executing market strategies, and developing comprehensive project information to enhance specification positioning.
Responsibilities
Analyze and prioritize target accounts within the assigned territory in collaboration with the Regional Business Development Manager and/or Divisional Sales Leader
Develop and execute an annual business plan to enhance specification position, utilizing a comprehensive market box strategy that includes master specifications, project specifications, and owner guidelines
Create influence within key accounts (owners, engineers, general contractors) by developing and strengthening owner guidelines, master specifications, and project-specific specifications
Utilize Salesforce to capture, manage, and share account and project data, ensuring alignment and collaboration with the commercial sales team
Coordinate effective project handoffs to the commercial sales team at appropriate stages of the project lifecycle
Build and maintain deep expertise in:
Product features, benefits, and applications
Market dynamics, account influences, and technical language, including material science
Industry specifications, including structure, content, and terminology
Competitive products and market positioning
Establish and maintain strong industry relationships with clients, prospects, and key influencers
Monitor market trends, competitive activity, and emerging opportunities
Leverage relationship-building strategies to enhance engagement and gather market intelligence
Participate in local trade organizations and professional associations, becoming an active presence in the assigned territory
Perform additional duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree is required, preferred in Mechanical Engineering or Construction Management
Prior sales experience, within the commercial construction or engineering industries
Must have proven relationships within the data center, life sciences or semiconductor markets
Demonstrated success in business development, sales, and account management, including achievement of sales targets in complex sales environments
Strong project management, communication, and interpersonal skills
Self-motivated professional who thrives in an autonomous role while collaborating with a high-performing team
Demonstrated drive, resilience, adaptability, and a team-oriented mindset
Strong learning agility, creative problem-solving ability, and resourcefulness
Excellent organizational and time-management skills with the ability to work effectively in a virtual environment with minimal supervision
Ability to lift 50+ pounds
Willingness to travel overnight as required by the territory and role
Preferred
Experience writing or developing engineering and design specifications is a plus
