They are seeking an experienced and proactive Associate General Counsel to manage all legal matters, including compliance with regulations, employment litigation, and contract drafting, while providing comprehensive legal support across the organization.

Responsibilities

Establish and manage policies to create a best-in-class legal "ecosystem"

Provide legal advice and support in the definition and development of corporate policies, procedures and programs

Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including the HR, Development, Finance, and Operations teams, to understand the core business and strategic objectives and provide comprehensive legal support

Identify and mitigate employment-related risks through proactive policies and training

Ensure adherence to all labor laws, regulations, and ethical standards

Manage employment lawsuits, EEOC/state agency claims, and internal investigations

Draft, review, and negotiate employment agreements, severance packages, and contractor agreements

Draft, review, and assist in negotiation with third-party contracts and agreements, including vendor agreements, leases, customer contracts

Required

J.D. from an accredited law school; active bar membership in at least one U.S. jurisdiction, ideally Illinois

Minimum of 8 years practicing law with significant experience in one or more of construction, infrastructure, project finance or structured financing

Proven ability to collaborate internally and with outside legal counsel and serve as a strategic business partner to senior leadership

Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate legal advice to non-legal stakeholders

Innovative and adaptable, with excellent collaboration, organizational, and time management skills

Experience managing complex transactions

Preferred

Prior in-house counsel experience in a Private Equity backed organization

Prior experience at a top-tier law firm providing sophisticated project finance or corporate transactional training, ideally followed by in-house leadership experience
