Azure Cybersecurity Engineer

Responsibilities

Design and implement security architectures for Azure cloud environments
Deploy and configure Azure security services, including Microsoft Defender for Cloud, Azure Sentinel, and Azure Firewall
Establish security baselines and hardening standards for Azure resources
Implement identity and access management solutions using Azure AD and Entra ID
Manage security monitoring, logging, and alerting systems
Conduct security assessments, vulnerability analyses, and incident response procedures for Azure environments
Serve as the primary security advisor for Azure implementations
Present findings, recommendations, and roadmaps to stakeholders
Collaborate with teams to integrate security within the DevOps lifecycle
Develop and implement security policies and governance frameworks for Azure
Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, including NIST standards
Manage Azure Policy and Blueprints for regulatory compliance
Conduct security audits and prepare compliance documentation

Required

Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in cybersecurity, with at least 2 years focused on Azure cloud security
Proficiency with Azure security services, including Microsoft Defender for Cloud, Azure Sentinel, and Azure Firewall
Strong understanding of Azure networking (e.g., NSGs, Application Gateway, DDoS protection) and identity management (Azure AD/Entra ID, Conditional Access, Privileged Identity Management)
Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, ARM templates, or Bicep) and DevSecOps practices, including CI/CD security integration
Strong foundation in cybersecurity principles, frameworks (e.g., NIST, CIS, MITRE ATT&CK), and best practices
Experience with security monitoring, incident response, and threat detection
Active Secret clearance
Required: Microsoft Certified: Azure Security Engineer Associate (AZ-500) and Security+ IAT Level II 8570

Preferred

Highly Desired: One or more certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CEH, or GIAC (e.g., GCLD, GCED, GCSA)
Additional Azure certifications (e.g., Azure Administrator, Azure Solutions Architect) are a plus
Experience with multi-cloud environments
Knowledge of container security (AKS, Docker, Kubernetes)
Scripting skills (PowerShell, Python, Bash)
Experience with security automation and orchestration
Background in penetration testing or red team operations
Familiarity with Microsoft 365 security stack
