Senior Director for Development - Children’s Health

Responsibilities
Build a portfolio of 100-125 major gift prospects to be solicited through ongoing identification and qualification work, and one-on-one discovery calls
Identify, cultivate, and solicit prospects for major gifts
Develop and execute an annual business plan to meet financial and activity goals
Work with faculty to develop and articulate philanthropic priorities and identify prospects
Work closely with colleagues on Development Communications, Analytics & Strategic Initiatives, and Stewardship teams to coordinate other activities in support of major gift fundraising
Support the work of other major gift colleagues across the institution who identify and solicit gifts
Develop cultivation and solicitation strategies for all assigned prospects
Build a working relationship with key faculty who will be effective in communicating their vision and opportunities for support at one-on-one meetings or group presentations with major gift prospects
Develop a broad knowledge base of VUMC to represent the institution
Coordinate job responsibilities of shared assistant
Support the overall goals of the major gift team and VUMC Development
Travel as required
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's Degree and 5 years of experience
Preferred
Experience in children's health or healthcare fundraising preferred
Five to seven years of relevant experience working for an academic medical center on major gifts from individuals and families preferred
Experience managing a portfolio of prospects to support and grow major gift activity for institutional priorities preferred
Experience overseeing the tracking of major gift prospects through the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship cycle by reviewing timely and appropriate moves on donor/prospects
Excellent judgment and sensitivity to interpersonal and organizational dynamics preferred
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to maintain solid working relationships with development colleagues, faculty, staff, and leaders preferred
