They are seeking an experienced Accounting and Finance professional to take on a hands-on Controller / Senior Accountant role, managing day-to-day accounting operations and supporting financial reporting in a regulated cannabis environment.

Responsibilities
Oversee day-to-day accounting operations while also supporting higher-level financial reporting and planning
Maintain the general ledger, preparing and closing monthly financial statements, managing payroll processes, and ensuring accurate accounting
Partner closely with leadership to review monthly P&Ls, cash flow, and balance sheets, participate in quarterly financial reviews, and coordinate with external CPAs who handle tax filings and audits
Prepare journal entries, reconcile accounts, and help streamline systems across payroll, timekeeping, scheduling, and reporting platforms
Qualification
Required
Minimum of 3-10 years of accounting experience
Hands-on cannabis industry experience strongly preferred
Solid foundation in accrual accounting
Knowledge of GAAP principles
Experience in financial reporting
Demonstrated proficiency in Excel
Demonstrated proficiency in QuickBooks Online
Prior experience working in a regulated industry
Experience partnering with external CPAs
Working knowledge of cannabis-specific accounting complexities, including 280E
Comfort operating in an industry where regulations, payment processing, and compliance requirements are constantly evolving
Ability to oversee day-to-day accounting operations
Ability to prepare and close monthly financial statements
Ability to manage payroll processes
Ability to ensure accurate accounting
Ability to partner closely with leadership to review monthly P&Ls, cash flow, and balance sheets
Ability to participate in quarterly financial reviews
Ability to coordinate with external CPAs who handle tax filings and audits
Strong communication skills
Practical problem-solving skills
Willingness to roll up your sleeves when needed
Preferred
CPA is considered a plus
Experience consolidating or improving disconnected systems
Adaptable and collaborative personality
