Fire Fighter Engineer
City of Green, Ohio is seeking a Fire Fighter Engineer to respond to emergency calls and assist with fire control and suppression. The role includes performing maintenance and repairs on fire division vehicles and equipment, as well as operating equipment at fire scenes.
Government Administration
Responsibilities
Perform preventative and service maintenance on fire division vehicles, trucks, fire suppression equipment, EMS equipment, and other fire division and apparatus; respond to service calls for equipment or apparatus disabled at a fire scene
Responsible for knowledge of relevant policies and procedures related to safety including occupational hazards and safety precautions
Serve as primary driver and operator for division pumpers, heavy rescue vehicles, and aerial apparatus; perform any and all firefighter duties as needed: lay hose lines, direct hose streams, set up adjunct equipment, etc
Respond to other types of emergency rescue or emergency assistance situations: hazardous material spills, confined space rescues, trench rescues, water rescues, etc
Perform a variety of unskilled and semi-skilled building and ground maintenance tasks such as cleaning, painting, lawn mowing, snow shoveling, replacing of light bulbs
Maintain the safety and orderliness of repair shop area; maintain and ensure the security of tools and equipment
Subject to recall during off-duty hours for critical vehicle repairs
Responsible for maintaining maintenance and service records on all fire department vehicles and equipment
Responsible for coordinating and managing the maintenance and repair of all Fire Division buildings and grounds
Maintain inventory of parts and equipment; prepare and maintain work-related records: repairs completed, time necessary to complete repair, materials utilized, etc
Attend seminars and other training sessions and studies materials in order to enhance skills and improve response readiness; maintain required licensure and certification
Perform other related duties as directed or assigned by the Fire Chief and determined to be necessary in order to promote, further, or ensure the effective and efficient operation of the division
Qualification
Required
Completion of automotive mechanic trade school and a minimum of two (2) years in maintenance and repair of gasoline and diesel-powered equipment. Trade school may not be required if additional relevant work experience beyond two (2) years is evident
Must possess the following ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) and EVT (Emergency Vehicle Technician) certifications; or, obtain these certifications after employment with the City: ASE (A4, A5, T4, T5) and EVT (E0, E1, F1, F2)
Must obtain certification from the State of Ohio as a full-time firefighter within one (1) year after employment by the City
Must possess a Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with an N endorsement preferred; and, must be able to qualify for and remain insurable under the City's vehicle insurance policy
Must successfully complete all pre-employment examinations administered by the City
