Materials Engineer (onsite)
Johnson Controls is seeking an entry level Materials Engineer who are hands-on problem solvers, self-motivated, who consistently take the initiative to get things done with good analytical skills and an eye for detail. The role involves conducting failure analysis, performing materials analysis and testing, and providing materials and process support in the Global Materials and Process Lab.

Responsibilities
Use a data science approach with materials science principles to develop and execute design of experiments
Use practical experience with special process suppliers to readily understand their challenges, articulate robust guidance for solutions, and effectively relay supplier experience to Engineering for improved manufacturability
Ability to analyze, test and help recommend materials for JCI products
Ability to perform Root Cause failure analysis, critically review data related to raw materials and drive decision making within a cross-functional team
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's in Materials Science and Engineering or Metallurgy
Knowledge of ferrous and non-ferrous alloys
Experience in metallography, image analysis, mechanical testing, and SEM/EDS analysis
Ability to analyze, test and help recommend materials
Experience with data science and digital proficiency
Up to 10% travel
Preferred
Knowledge of brazing, welding and corrosion analysis
Background in chemistry and/or experience in thermal analysis
Some familiarity with processes as they relate to joining, forming, cutting, etc
