As the in-house Employment Counsel, you will serve as a subject matter expert on employment-related matters, handling disputes and drafting policies to ensure compliance with employment laws.

Responsibilities

Identify and assesses legal risks and opportunities within the employment area and advise accordingly to ensure compliance with all applicable employment laws, rules, regulations, and policies

Provide counsel and advice on employment related matters, including but not limited to employee relations issues; discipline and terminations; FMLA, ADA, and PWFA leave and accommodation requests; wage and hour laws; leave and sick laws; workers’ compensation, unemployment compensation, and other claims; compensation plans; employee benefits; job postings; offers of employment; employment agreements; separation agreements, and other matters related to the onboarding and offboarding of employees

Handle and/or participate in employment related proceedings, hearings, litigation, mediations, and arbitrations, including handling the responses to subpoenas and other document requests

Qualification

JD degreePennsylvania bar admissionEmployment law expertiseLitigation experienceEmployee relations knowledgeCommunicationProblem-solving skills

Required

JD degree from an accredited law school

Admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and in good standing

Minimum of 7 years substantive employment experience with a corporate legal department or law firm handling employment matters before federal courts, state courts, and administrative agencies

Excellent working knowledge of state and federal employment laws and regulations, including but not limited to ADA, ADEA, FMLA, PWFA, FLSA, etc
