Electrical Engineer
AKS Engineering & Forestry is expanding its Electrical Engineering practice and is looking for an Electrical Engineer (EIT or PE) to support and grow the team. The role involves designing and planning electrical engineering work for various public and private infrastructure projects, while collaborating with clients and other disciplines to ensure high-quality results.
Responsibilities
Design, plan, and support electrical engineering work for public and private infrastructure projects
Deliver lighting, power, and controls designs for site development, utility, and facility projects
Prepare calculations, reports, permit submittals, and construction documents
Coordinate and communicate with clients, utilities, and regulatory agencies
Collaborate with project managers, civil engineers, and other disciplines to deliver high-quality work on time and within budget
Provide technical support during design reviews, meetings, and construction phases
Qualification
Required
Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) or Electrical Engineer-in-Training (EIT)
4+ years of relevant electrical design experience, ideally across commercial, municipal, and/or utility projects
Proficient in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and/or electrical design tools such as Revit or SKM
Comfortable preparing electrical plans, single-line diagrams, load calculations, panel schedules, and lighting photometrics
A strong communicator who works well with both internal teams and external partners
Organized, detail-oriented, and dependable, you deliver quality work and meet deadlines
Preferred
Experience with short circuit and arc flash studies
Familiarity with NEC, NESC, and local jurisdictional codes
Exposure to low-voltage systems or renewable energy projects
Interest in mentoring junior engineers or designers
Desire to grow into a technical or people leadership role as the electrical team expands
