Black Bear Diner is a family-friendly restaurant known for its homemade food and friendly service. They are seeking a Morning Shift Host responsible for ensuring guests have a positive experience by greeting them warmly, seating them according to preferences, and maintaining cleanliness in the dining area.

Responsibilities

Accommodate special seating requests for guests whenever possible

Greet all arriving guests warmly and promptly

Seat guest/ guests based on guest preferences and balancing of customer flow in service stations

When immediate seating is limited, record guest names and number of people in party. Provided guests with an estimated waiting time. Call out name and number of party when tables become available

Upon seating, offer guests a menu, Inspect table for proper presentation and completeness

Relay messages to servers as needed

Maintain clean entrance, lobby, dining room and restrooms

Assist the servers in maintaining and stocking service stations

Transport bus tubs with dirty dishes to dish room. Clean and reset tables promptly

Clean chairs, booths, and surrounding carpet

Take food and beverage orders from guests requesting take out service, enter orders in our point of sale system

Process payments correctly and efficiently. Close checks

Thank guests for their visit and invite them to return

Perform side work at the start and end of each shift as assigned

Be available to fill in as needed to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the restaurant as directed by the restaurant manager or immediate supervisor

Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends and holidays in addition to normal business

Frequent to continuous need for manual dexterity of both hands (pushing, pulling, handling, gripping, fine finger controls, etc.)

Frequent exposure to cold/ below freezing and high heat temperatures (walk-in refrigerator, freezers, and ovens)

Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time

Be able to reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift up to 50 pounds

Bending, squatting, and stooping for cleaning activities throughout the shift
