Sales Tax Analyst

Responsibilities

Understanding sales tax rules and regulations for the purchase of goods and services and the sale of goods at retail locations
Analyzing, reconciling and preparing sales and use tax returns for Publix Super Markets, Inc. and subsidiaries
Financial reporting related to the sales and use tax general ledger accounts
Sales tax projects as assigned by leadership

Required

Associate's degree in Business, Legal, Finance, Accounting or equivalent combination of formal training/certification and professional work experience that demonstrates the prerequisite competence to perform the duties of this position
3 years' experience in an analytical field
Knowledge of corporate buying or Publix retail experience
must be detailed oriented and possess problem solving skills
ability to identify rules, principles, or relationships that explain facts, data, or other information; analyzes information and makes correct inferences or draws accurate conclusions
ability to self-direct work activities and take action on tasks without direction from a supervisor; ability to undertake new tasks as work is completed without being told to do so; ability to use the resources available to complete a task; proactively following through on tasks to ensure appropriate progress is made and the task is completed
ability to develop and maintain professional, trusting, positive, and productive working relationships with associates, managers, customers, and vendors
basic Microsoft Word skills
intermediate Microsoft Excel skills

Preferred

Bachelor's degree in Business, Legal, Finance, Accounting, or another analytical discipline or equivalent experience
4 years' experience in an analytical field
knowledge of Publix systems, including PIMS, SAP, SACT, Host and ETS
knowledge of sales tax rules and regulations
knowledge of Publix operations and facilities
intermediate Microsoft Word skills
advanced Microsoft Excel skills
knowledge of Vertex, OneSource and CCH
