Data Analyst, Principal
Hennepin County is seeking a Principal Data Analyst to join their Health and Human Services department's Data and Analytics team. This role focuses on generating actionable insights for the Child Support Services area through data analysis and report development, primarily using data from the PRISM application.

Responsibilities
Query, transform, and clean data from a variety of state and county databases
Analyze, interpret, and present data to meet the needs of multiple stakeholders and diverse audiences
Visualize data in engaging and informative ways for various stakeholders
Create tools and data products including reports, surveys, presentations, dashboards, and visualizations for the Child Support Services leadership, and state and county human services business partners and stakeholders
Manage manual reporting, create and maintain user documentation, and cross train other analysts
Provide leadership and insight to support data informed decision making
Develop actionable insights from data analysis that can be used to improve the lives of county residents in various ways using a racial equity lens
Provide technical consultation to Child Support Services leadership and staff on data analysis, statistics, analytic techniques, performance measurement, survey design and evaluation, and data literacy
Qualification
Required
One of the following: Bachelor's degree or higher in business administration, public administration, research methods, statistics, behavioral/social science, public health, computer science/MIS, management science, or urban/city planning and four years of related experience
Related education and/or experience to total eight years
Preferred
Experience with collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data, with attention to detail and accuracy, to help improve business/organizational practices
Experience telling stories through data visualization using user-centered design best practices
Experience querying and transforming data from large complex databases using SQL or similar tools
Experience using business intelligence tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, SSRS, QlikView)
Experience working with child support programs, PRISM data and/or the PRISM application
Ability to gather and analyze information, design and test solutions to problems, and effectively communicate results in collaboration with others
Ability to build and nurture collaborative relationships with a variety of customers/partners
Ability to successfully manage multiple priorities and projects and work independently
Knowledge of statistics and experience using statistical packages for analyzing datasets (R, Python, SAS, Stata, etc.)
Knowledge of the data science process and principles (i.e., business/data understanding, data preparation, modeling - statistics/machine learning, evaluation, and deployment)
