Product Engineer
Pretium Packaging is a leader in packaging solutions, and they are seeking a Product Engineer to design and develop rigid plastic packaging solutions. This role involves collaborating with multiple teams to support new product launches and continuous improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities
Design and engineer rigid plastic packaging products (e.g., bottles, containers, closures) from concept through commercialization
Develop and maintain product specifications, drawings, and technical documentation
Support new product introductions (NPIs), line extensions, and customer-requested design changes
Collaborate with tooling and process teams on mold design, mold reviews, tooling changes, and manufacturability
Provide engineering support to manufacturing plants during trials, start-ups, and production scale-ups
Troubleshoot product, process, or tooling issues impacting quality, cost, or efficiency
Partner with Operations and Quality to ensure products meet performance, regulatory, and customer requirements
Drive design-for-manufacturability (DFM) and design-for-cost (DFC) improvements
Serve as the technical liaison for customer projects, supporting Sales and Program Management as needed
Participate in customer calls, technical reviews, and product qualification discussions
Align engineering solutions with commercial objectives, timelines, and cost targets
Identify opportunities to reduce material usage, improve product performance, and increase manufacturing efficiency
Support cost-reduction initiatives through design optimization and material analysis
Ensure all engineering documentation is accurate, controlled, and compliant with Pretium standards
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Plastics, Manufacturing, or related discipline)
3–7+ years of product or manufacturing engineering experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment
Minimum of three (3) years of hands-on experience with mold design, including injection and/or blow mold design, tooling validation, and design-for-manufacturability considerations
Strong understanding of plastics materials, part design, tolerancing, and manufacturing processes
Experience with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Creo, AutoCAD)
Strong understanding of mold design principles, tooling validation, and process capability
Ability to analyze data, conduct root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions
Strong cross-functional collaboration and communication skills
Customer-focused mindset with the ability to balance technical rigor and commercial needs
Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Willingness to travel occasionally to manufacturing sites or customer locations
Preferred
Experience in rigid plastic packaging, injection molding, blow molding, extrusion, or thermoforming strongly preferred
