Electrical Engineer

COMPA Industries is searching for an Electrical Engineer – Design Authority to support Savannah River Nuclear Solutions in Aiken, South Carolina. This role serves as a technical authority for electrical systems, ensuring safe, compliant, and reliable electrical system design and operation in a highly regulated DOE environment.

Responsibilities

Serve as Electrical Design Authority, providing technical oversight and approval authority for electrical systems
Review, approve, and maintain electrical design basis documents and system configurations
Perform engineering analysis and evaluations for electrical systems, modifications, and upgrades
Support operations, maintenance, construction, startup, and testing activities
Develop and review design deliverables including:
Single-line diagrams
Electrical equipment lists and specifications
Control schematics and wiring diagrams
Short circuit, arc flash, load flow, and grounding calculations
Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and DOE requirements
Support field walkdowns, troubleshooting, and resolution of electrical issues
Provide technical guidance and mentoring to engineering and operations personnel

Required

15+ years of electrical engineering experience in nuclear, DOE, or high-hazard industrial facilities
Design Authority or Design Engineering experience supporting safety-related electrical systems
Demonstrated knowledge of DOE Orders, nuclear safety requirements, and configuration management
Strong working knowledge of NEC, NFPA, IEEE, OSHA, and applicable industry codes
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (ABET-accredited) or equivalent experience
15+ years of electrical engineering experience in nuclear or chemical process facilities
Strong understanding of electrical safety, system reliability, and nuclear design controls
Ability to work independently and make sound technical decisions

Preferred

Experience using electrical analysis software (e.g., ETAP preferred)
Prior SRNS or DOE facility experience
Previous Design Authority designation or equivalent role
Experience supporting safety-class and safety-significant systems
Professional Engineer (PE) license
Prior or active DOE Q or L clearance
Advanced degree or Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred
Extensive hands-on experience may be considered in lieu of advanced education
