Purchasing Agent

The Purchasing Agent will assist various departments in ordering and placing purchase orders for needed supplies and verifying their receipt.

Responsibilities

Ensure the accurate and timely purchasing of all items or services to fulfill and meet company requirements
Create purchase orders in an accurate and timely manner
Order supplies for individual departments and maintains purchase requirements
Review orders and requests to ensure vendor compliance, and recommend vendor changes when necessary
Place orders and expedite as needed to insure timely delivery
Evaluate suppliers by considering price, quality, availability and other criteria
Develop and optimize vendor relationships
Review any invoice discrepancies. Apply to suppliers with requests for credits or adjustments
Ensure that all purchase requests have been approved in accordance with authorized approval levels
Identify most cost effective freight movement
Direct communication with manufacturing personnel to ensure seamless operation of the facility with minimal disruption of production
Coordinate and processes all Return-To-Vendor requests
Various administrative duties such as filing, copying, etc
Maintain regular and punctual attendance
Comply with all company policies and procedures
Assist with any other duties as assigned

Required

Associate's degree in Accounting, Business Administration or related area, or minimum of one year's related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Computer skills in Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook
Good written and verbal skills

Preferred

2 years prior purchasing experience
Manufacturing background
