Senior Equipment Engineer
GForce Life Sciences is partnering with a Fortune 500 Pharmaceutical Company to find a Senior Equipment Engineer who will oversee major research equipment for a campus expansion project. The role involves planning, scoping, specifying, testing, and commissioning lab equipment while collaborating with various teams to ensure all requirements are met during the project phases.

Responsibilities
Serve as the point person for coordinating all lab equipment related requirements on all Capital Projects
Work with R&D finance to budget and plan all major equipment, including special requirements, testing, shielding, shipping and rigging issues
Collaborate with various groups (including the scientists, space planners, engineers, IT, asset managers, procurement, EHS and project managers) as well as outside companies (lab equipment vendors, architects, engineers, contractors, trade subcontractors and move management companies) for all the lab equipment related aspect of a project
Work with the end users and the Asset Management team to identify new lab equipment and to develop thorough and accurate programming documents for lab equipment at the start of a project, including review of existing equipment to be relocated and specifications for new and existing equipment
Define all peripheral equipment to be purchased to meet process (end user) needs
Insure all vital spare parts and long lead time spare part items are defined and included in PO
Continue to monitor the status of the lab equipment acquisitions by the end users during the project to ensure that changes to the lab equipment list are addressed during the design phase
Conduct field visits to the construction site including checking rough-in of utilities as well as checking utility connection points while finish work is being completed
Coordinate move management companies and lab equipment vendors in the installation, commissioning, calibration and validation of lab equipment (IQ, OQ, PQ and testing)
Assist the Asset Management group in updating the asset records for the equipment in the Integrated Workplace Management System (Tririga), including uploading reference & maintenance guides, warrantees, service agreements, preventative maintenance tasks and specification sheets
Collaborate with the vendors, end users, Asset Management group, procurement, R&D finance, shipping and receiving to ensure that lab equipment is ordered and delivered in a timely manner that coordinates with the floor/room/facilities floor preparedness and readiness, and, when necessary, coordinate requirements for on-site or off-site storage of equipment
Interview vendors and manufacturers review their portfolios, manufacturer’s business health, and visit manufacturers for review of production facilities and equipment
Coordinate with preferred equipment vendors, the architects and engineers designing a project, the contractors and subcontractors building the project, the engineers and the EHS, IT and Operations groups to ensure that all specifications and requirements for the equipment are fully documented and that the design documents and construction execution fully addresses those requirements including, but not limited to:
Spatial requirements and structural requirements including clearances for access and serviceability, as well as any required accessories (computers, gas cylinders, other components)
Building services (cylinder and house gasses, plumbing, drainage, pumps, electricity, UPS, data, vacuum, steam, RODI water, BMS monitoring, mechanical connections), including correct connectors to the equipment and their locations
Environmental requirements (humidity, temperature, air cleanliness, vibration, exhaust, electromagnetic noise, shielding, flatness and leveling requirements for floors)
Environmental, Health and Safety concerns (radiation, lasers, hazardous waste, biohazardous or infectious agents, x-rays)
Collaborate with members of the project team in the development and review of the following:
Owner’s Project Requirements document
RFPs for design professionals
Review of design professionals’ proposals and qualifications
Basis of Design documents
Lab equipment matrices for both new and existing lab equipment
Lab equipment specifications book as part of the Project Manual
Review of the accuracy of listed equipment needs vs actual equipment needs
Construction Documents and Specifications
Review of contractor submittals
Rigging requirements
Logistics for movement of equipment through spaces to their final locations (verifying clearances in hallways and doors, etc.)
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
10+ years of experience supporting biopharma research lab equipment
Experience owning lab equipment from acquisition, installation, and commissioning
Strong understanding of lab utilities and infrastructure
Experience managing change controls related to lab equipment
