Attorney (family law/immigration/domestic violence)
Freemont Yardley Search is seeking an Attorney to provide direct legal representation to victims of domestic violence in Westchester County. The role involves offering legal advice, managing caseloads, and collaborating with various agencies to advocate for survivors’ rights.
Responsibilities
Provide legal advice, and representation (i.e. family law litigation, matrimonial actions, custody & visitation, child support, orders of protection, and immigration)
Conduct client intake and offer trauma-informed legal advice, counsel, and (if needed) referrals
Manage caseload via continued communication with clients, court personnel, and partner agencies
Collaborate with the District Attorney’s Office, law enforcement, and other community agencies to advocate for survivors’ rights
Maintain accurate records and case files
Participate in training and professional development activities to enhance legal knowledge, especially in domestic violence advocacy
Engage in outreach and collaborate with community partners to provide comprehensive support to clients
Qualification
Required
Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school
License to practice law in New York State
Commitment to serving diverse communities with empathy and cultural competence, while providing trauma-informed, client-centered legal services
Preferred
2+ years of legal experience, preferably in family law, immigration or domestic violence-related cases
Bilingual (Spanish)
Valid driver's license or access to reliable transportation
