Land Acquisition Manager

As the Land Acquisition Manager, you will identify and acquire strategic land parcels to drive the division’s growth, working closely with senior leaders to evaluate deals and optimize investments.

Responsibilities

Build relationships with developers, brokers, municipalities, attorneys, engineers, planners, and competitors to secure land opportunities
Identify potential land through mapping, virtual and physical prospecting, networking, and targeted mailings
Create proformas for land deals that align with company thresholds
Negotiate land purchase agreements with input from senior leaders
Monitor land acquisition and development activity in your designated area
Compile, analyze, and present data for Land Committee feasibility packages
Participate in Land Committee discussions and oversee data collection on HOA/District obligations, taxes, cost-sharing, permits, and guidelines
Audit KB Home’s proprietary database for accuracy and current information
Direct support staff in preparing reports, analyses, and feasibility packages
Strengthen collaboration with Land Development, Sales & Marketing, Purchasing, Construction, Customer Service, Mortgage, and Finance teams
Lead kick-off and rollout meetings for new land deals

Required

Minimum 3 years of land acquisition, contract negotiation, and relationship-building experience
Valid driver's license with ability to travel throughout the designated area and host land tours
A commitment to conducting business in a professional and ethical manner
The ideal candidate must be able to complete all physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation
Ability to stand or sit for extended periods
Ability to move about work location
Ability to walk up and down stairs
Ability to observe details at close range and communicate information so others will understand
Ability to transport and move up to 20 lbs and move as needed (for roles in Construction/Customer Service/IT/Land/Marketing/Sales/Studio)
Periodically works in outdoor weather conditions (for roles in Construction/Customer Service/Land/Sales)
On-site position at the KB Home Division Office

Preferred

Preferred prior management experience
Experience in home building, construction, or real estate is beneficial
Strong understanding of market and industry trends
Demonstrated leadership skills with a focus on team motivation, employee development, and results
Ability to connect with people and maintain solid professional relationships
A customer-centric approach with problem-solving focus
Excellent verbal and written communication skills to clarify complex concepts
Proven training and presentation capabilities
A collaborative spirit with willingness to value and incorporate team ideas
Strong decision-making based on facts, data, or metrics
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
